Can't really get my head round why services such as *********** are banned... Obviously I've just felt the wrath of the Katz staff for using such services.

How else are we expected to keep our links alive?

oh i, and does anyone know if using link protection would result in a permanent ban?

When you use link protectors it makes it hard for the link checkers to check to see if the links are still active. That is why link protectors are not liked.

If you want to keep your links active, then you really should consider when putting a description of your file that you do not put anything in there that can get your file deleted in the first place from the place you uploaded the file too. An example would be, instead of putting Spider Man 2, put SM2 as the description instead or perhaps make up a number 1234 then just open up your notepad, create a list of all your files and put the name=1234 and that will make it easy for you to know which files are which without having to worry about them getting deleted.

Then, when you post the movie or whatever just put the link with the proper information of the file on the forum or wherever you are posting in the description. Also, if you do not trust a forum or you are unfamiliar with it, then don't post your files there.

Another thing is if you have your own website you can create a very simple script to hide the official url of your link (they will only see the link of your website) and it is still easy for link checkers to check your links.

You can find the script below if interested:

I hope this gives you some ideas,

I would think if you keep trying this there is every chance you might, I am not sure how many times your site has been banned or warned for this but I would consider a rethink before trying it again if thats what you are planning on doing

Thanks for your help eojpek1...

And regarding your post gismo; I won't be doing this again... I think I just worded my question wrong.

Oh well, time to email the big cheese(s).

The primary reason for this is safety for our users.
Phishing is avoided in 9/10 cases by not allowing link protection.

Just don't use them period. They piss off users, they piss of mods, they piss of webmasters, and the piss of the katz staff.

Morale of the story?: Don't piss people off :) and maybe they will like your site :D

Link protectors won't really save your upload either.
It makes very little difference; and the real URL can always be determined.

Ok, so the general concensus is that I should be unbanned if I cease to use link protection (which I have done already) ?
