IPOD - MP3 Music Downloading

Ipod's & Music Download Sites...

I recently bought an Ipod and am wondering if I am limited to downloading from Itunes.com and/or if I am free to download mp3's from any other site.

The reason I ask is because Itunes.com (http://itunes.com) is expensive per song. I can download the same music for free via any of the various MP3 Search Engines such as Mooza (http://mooza.net), eSpew (http://espew.com) or 45up.com (**********up.com).

I'm not sure if there is any difference between iPod versions, but I have an older iPod that will load mp3s. I just have to transfer the songs over in iTunes. It recognizes the iPod when you plug it in.
