Important news for Rapidshare uploaders

Lately I noticed I couldn't upload files to Rapidshare anymore and my RS uploader returned error:

File: 1st-quarter-report.rar
DownloadLink: Error on getting the links - Fehler beim Auslesen der Links
DeleteLink: The file may be forbidden to be shared. - Die Datei darf nicht verteilt werden.

I contacted RS support and their answer was:

If we find your files posted on any public forum we add the md5 hash value of that file to our filter list regardless its content.
Please refrain from uploading those files.
Please refer to our updated FAQ section.

Looks like we're going to have a major slowdown if RS starts to uphold this rule widely.

Marco.

Blimey! Surely they can't do that unless they're targeting specific forums?

They'd struggle though if everything was anonymised. ;) Secondly to give them a few headaches, generate an MD5 hash of some files that are on the forum, find the collision files, upload those then complain something rotten because they've banned your files! They'll eventually drop the silly idea...

Edit: Actually, on second thoughts, couldn't the code tags just be hidden from anybody who isn't a registered user? I'm no php expert but I'm sure it is a simple mod.

it's not only that.
OK I am a great fan of RS but there are some things I do not like.
you see they were giving 10gb per day. you create an account and the next day they say you can download 4gb per day. This sucks more than anything has ever sucked before :))
They could do this only for the new premium users. You can't give something to somebody who purchased it and take it back from them. when I pay for 10 and I expect to get those 10. It's not my problem, it's their problem if they can't handle all those users. If they can't handle them, they should lock the new subscriptions until they upgrade their servers.
I think we can sue rapidshare about this matter.
