I had been using convertxtodvd for a while for this purpose..but it crops the sides of the video which I dont want!! :( I contacted support and they said only way to prevent this is selecting the letterbox format which will add black bars to the top and bottom. This is certainly what I dont want to do as it will lead to smaller picture on the tv screen!! :(

I am thinking of changing the software now..

So Would like to ask all people what soft they use to burn and convert movies and do you also face the problem of movies getting cropped?? And importantly DOES IT HAVE SUPPORT TO ADD SUBTITLES??

I use SUPER (all caps). It's free, powerful and has never failed me. You can find it with a simple google search.

I found the solution!! YAY!! The way to stop the movie from getting cropped is selecting the "stretch" method to resize videos..

Though it changes the aspect ratio a bit but WHO CARES!!

I've never noticed cropping with ConvertXToDVD, I'll have to do some scene comparisons between DVDs and source videos... I've used it exclusively for a long time because it has made a good DVD out of every video format I've thrown at it on all but the rarest occasion and without the more frequent problems I experienced with other programs on my system.

I've never noticed cropping with ConvertXToDVD

Same here until eyesonyouu brought it up, 4:3 was fine for me but 16:9 was cropped.

If you select any other setting other than "stretch" or "letterbox" in the video processing method.. the video is bound to get cropped unless it is in perfect 16:9 ratio which is not the case!

Load convertxtodvd and select the video file you want to convert. Find its AR by looking at the info under source files..

Then select the video resize method and open the following window by clicking the TV button-

Here you can select various resize methods such as "automatic" "letterbox" etc and can find out how much of your video will be cropped if you select a particular format!!

I normally don't convert movies as I just watch them on the PC. If I wanted to put it on a portable device, I would use Amiersoft DVD Studio Pack (which also has the feature to rip dvd's) and Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate.
