Well burning movies is illegal, so, I'm gonna say....

That Wedding video you recorded onto DVD, and then burnt to DivX on your computer? Now you have an AVI file and wish to burn it to DVD, with a menu and everything?

Download and install "InterVideo WinDVD Creator Platinum 3.0" It is not the fastest, but very easy, and magnificent quality...

When you first run it, you will need to set-up the basic features, like NTSC/PAL, MPEG AUDIO or DOLBY (choose Dolby), and basic running length...

Open a new project, and select "open media"

http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb97/cuzabis/step1.png

Open your DivX/AVI file, and now you will see it in the top right corner...

Whats gonna happen is your gonna burn it with no chapters unless you follow this step.... Click on the video thumbnail of the vid you just opened... you will see a "cut" button
http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb97/cuzabis/step2.png

In my option I split by time and selected 5 minutes... this will make 5 minute long chapters... Alternatively you can "AUTO DETECT" this will detect for sudden pauses in the video, and interpret it's own chapters (Takes time, my way is quicker)

http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb97/cuzabis/step3.png

Simply drag all the thumbnails from your split video, down to the Filmstrip... If there is more then one part to your video, please go back and split and drag those now...

At this same window where we splitted the videos, you can also add text transitions, like yer name come floating across the screen when the DVD is started....
(This is optional and i am going to skip it...)

Authoring: This is where you add your title menu, you can either use a wallpaper from your computer, or there are many 'prebuilt themes'...
Select the one you want most, and maybe add some text to the title window
http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb97/cuzabis/step4.png

Now after that, you can select "MAKE MOVIE"

Insert a blank DVD (or you can save an ISO to harddrive) and burn :)

yer movie, err, umm, wedding video, is burnt ;)

POINTER: TV's have an overscan, so it is wise to add title bars on your video before burning, but if burning widescreen, dont worry about it ;)[/quote]

There are other tools, which work a lot quicker, but they dont have dolby digital sound, and believe me, you notice the difference

Hey dudes try VSO ConvertXtoDVD (get the latest version) its pretty quick if you have got a good cpu, AMD Athlon 3400+ would do, it does a fairly basic menu tho (not animated or owt like that) but it works dam well and you can create your own backgrounds, so download it and see wot you think. Hope this helps :)

I like Intervideo better... It's the only company who bought the rights from Dolby to use their audio...

Also you can make any type of menu, plus add effects, sounds, etc

takes a bit longer, but quality is worth it ;)

Oh cheers dude I will have a look at that I'm always on the look out for new software so do stuff like that, although it is going to have to be pretty dam special for me to stop using ConvertXtoDVD but thanks for the recommendation anyway. :)

Yeah, ConvertXtoDVD also supports SRT files (subtitle files). As long the SRT is sync with your video file, you can have the subtitle feature on your movie as well. Great for hearing impair, or foreign movies and anime.

I found convertxtodvd for newbies to be good and fast, but intervideo had the edge on pic quality, the poncy menu's don't bother me as all I want to do is slot a movie in and watch it

Thanks for the tutorial.

I'm trying to put a DivX file onto a DVDR, and it goes through the first part of the process fine, but gets stuck on Job:Format Content .... 71% overall.

Any ideas?
