Oh deer, look what the Google van has done...

Google's new Street View service has run into controversy for the second time in a week - after one of its vans hit a deer.

Its driver had been mapping roads when a baby white-tailed deer emerged from woodland and ran on to the road.
The special, 360-degree roof-mounted camera captured it all, from impact to aftermath. But the internet giant avoided getting blood on its hands - the animal was only knocked unconscious and later bounded away into the wild.

The driver was 'understandably upset' and alerted police, Google said. 'The police explained to our driver that, sadly, this was not an uncommon occurrence in the region,' a spokesman added.
