We implement a relatively thorough word filter that removes common keywords that we'd rather not want in the download title.

Yes, it would be preferable for users to be able to see the "level of quality" for movies, but at the moment, I find the consistency in the format of the download titles is more important.

I have been thinking of ways that a webmaster could include such keywords along with the download title, but have not yet come up with a definite solution.

ok understood, but i have another question, for people who use auto submitters such as GotPhaze, and we use keywords that katz don't allow or use in submittions, will that be a problem? like if i submit in GotPhaze:

In this case, no, it wouldn't be a problem because it goes through the filter at Katz Downloads, thus automatically making it "Hannibal Rising (2006)".

I think as there are no Ebooks rules practised, i should start it :)

I think for ebooks downloads, you should put the publisher name in bracket, may be suffixed or prefixed. But publisher name is an important thing here. Actually as best practices are for the quality guys thats why i think this thing is important.

Another thing should be auto removed is the phrase (ebook). I saw lots of webmasters are submitting downloads with (ebook) this phrase suffixed or prefixed. It should be autoremoved like Dvdrip.

I Followed The Rules And Suddenly I Got Banned :D

The Reasons Was :

Do Not Put The Released Date Of The Download

and that was not listed with Katz Rules

and when i asked them and told them that i didn't find that rule in ur rules page

they said : we can not list all the rules other wise we'll have to write a book of rues

but man how should i know these rules with out reading them ??? :D

i suggest you write these rules in the forums at least

and link back from the submitting page ;)

I want to achieve 5 stars, i'm currently 4 stars ranked. I've read best practices and i think i'm doing all OK, anyway, i hope that we'll be 5 starred in short time.

No ads at all, clean layout, unregistered are allowed to write posts in open section where downloads are placed so if something is wrong with download they can say and we'll deal with that to be fixed shortly. Hide hack is forbidden on that part of forum (system forbidden) so no one can actually use it.

So, if anybody has something to advise to make better on our site i would be grateful .

I dunno if i can put our link here because it could be considered advertising, but if someone wants to give me some suggestions i can PM URL.


And, i have one dumb question, where can i see our or anybody's current PR az Katz ?

You have to ask by email. And I'm not sure if they'll let you know another site's rating. But you can see that from the main page - sites that have their downlaods listed in the first few pages have the highest rating. The rating decreases as the pages go on. :) That has been mentioned in the best practices or ratings thread in this forum.

Here i am again, i don't want to bother staff with e-mails, so, what do i have to do to accomplish 5 th. star ?

Site is still clean, default skin will be new on site, old is nice but new will be nicer, still no ads or crap like that, submissions are like said in rules and best practices.

i would be interested to know why my site only gets a 3. We have met up to all your standards since starting our submissions to your site aprox 3months ago. I have looked over it and cant see where we are not meeting a higher level. In our posts the quality of information is even higher and think that should be part of consideration as well..

I have also recently assisted a new site in submitting to katz and they are rated a one but there titles are the same as you are asking and the information is quality. Could this be explained to me

using shareonall is ok, but you have to post the downloads directly on the thread "copy and paste"

taking guests to shareonall, THEN the links requires 2 steps.

By that time, they would have looked for other links.

Minimize the steps, downloads in the threads :)

I'm New in Katz Submitting, I've Been Using Katz Downoads For a Long Time Ago 8-), One Week a Go I Said "I'd Love to Be Part Of Katz"
Then My friend Offered To Give Me a Domain+Web Host, I Took It
And Here's My Site

And Coz I Got It For Free, It Has NO Ads, NO Pops And NO Banners
The Thing Is That I Don't Want My Main Page To Have Anything To Do With My Warez, So When I Submitted My First 10 DDLs I Gave Katz Some Links In My Site, So I Only Want Traffic From Katz. i.e : I Don't Want PPL Visiting My Home Page To Download Anything, If They Want To Download They Can Go To Katz Downloads, That's What I Want.

So When Some One Click My DDL On Katz He'll Be In a Page In My Site, ONLY This Way The PPL Get To My DDL Pages, Therefore I Only Made The Style Thing To My Home Page, And I Said To My Self : " When Some1 Wants To Download He/She Won't Care About The Site Style, ( I Don't Want Members In My Site BTW) So I Made My DDL Pages Without Style.

-Blank Black Background (Fast , Fast , Fast).
-Clear Red Title.
-Screen Shot Of The DDL (If App).
-Some Words About The DDL (Or The Author's Description).
-Download Links. (Shown Without Any Need To Do Anything , No Registration , No Ad Clicking)
-Password.
- And The Most Important , No Ads , No Banners No Pops

@ bubyx - use common sense. if the release is "WaterWorks 2008" dont add "-8in1" at the end. Just make it "WaterWorks 2008".
the SlySoft one has no formatting. for instance: you cant say SlySoft Retail April 11. put "SlySoft v1.323" ... also "Security Apps" ..wtf is that? ..make them "Norton Internet Security 2009" ...i can see why you got banned now.

its all common sense. name the threads what they are. dont add the AiO crap.

Hi, I want to submit my site to Katz for the first time. I read best practice and saw that adds are limited and not desireable. So, we come to my major problem. In the footer of my site (on the bottom) I have 88x31 banners of sites like katz, phazeddl, etc. How many banners like that I may put in the footer and will their number affect to site rating of my site on katz? Also if I put one banner allowed in best practice in the header of my site, will it affect to the site rating of my site on the katz?

No, the current rules as its places will not let you do that, and if you do, when they go through the queue, someone will spot it, and correct it, and if it happens too frequently they will give you a week/2week ban.

You're breaking Rule #1 by doing that.
The URL part is the bit where it goes to your website's page where it contains the download links.

Everything is correct expect for the "Download URL" you must put the PAGE URL, do NOT put the rapidshare links. the Page link where your downloads will be at.

Just thought I might bring my 2 cents to help katz.

My first Idea would be :

I dunno but I notice that many sites when they submit downloads, they submit in list of 10. So is it possible to add another drop down menu on top as shown in the picture which when you select will cause the others below to have the same category as the one selected?

Like If I choose "App", then all the 10 below will turn to "App"

As It's tiresome to change all if you submit 40 downloads/day. :P


My second Idea would be:

Is it possible to have a control panel or something similar which will allow submitters to see what is currently in the queue?
As sometimes, people make mistake and believe they still have not submitted something.
Also, it would be good if we know how many downloads we have submitted are currently in the queue. As sometimes, Katz take time to update. More than 24H perhaps and it would be good if we knew whether there is still X numbers of downloads in the queue.

Also, I've read somewhere here that there is a way to prevent members from submitting downloads themselves. How do we do that?

Just thought it was good mentioning :)

rules will never be perfect, so please you can use your imagination and make your posts look good. for eg: if you are going to submit 3 seasons in one posts. it could be
eg:
Lost - Seasons 1-2-3

or

Lost - Season 1 to 3

I don't know dudes, use your imagination and I don't think Katz will ban you because of that. If your posts are out of the rules try to make 'em look but fallowing the rules.

I still have yet to find a rule stating that you do not allow free hosted sites. I've gone by the rules and yet I get black listed because of my site being on a free hosting service. I was hoping that if I get enough visitors and members one day I'd be able to take it to a paid service. If you would point me to the rule stating that free hosted sites are not allowed. All my topics are opened, links valid, got the katz icon on everypage, I make it mandandtory to have have it in everyones sig that way it's there, all I want is to be able to get somewhere. I've been useing katz.cd for awhile now. And I thought that it was the best place to get ppl to my forum. Well even if no 1 reads this at least I had a voice. A little question about the rule no. 11 in submission page!

It says
Download links on the submissions must be clearly visible (large font size + bold + in English).(A "Download:" subheading must be displayed in bold above download links.)
(Users must not have to click/follow instructions in order to gain access to the download link(s).)


Its not easy to force everyone to post in same format & I think this rule wasn't there always.

This is how we mostly provide download links, with the proper group release title! Is it prohibited? We are a 4 star site for quite a few months now, we revamped our site & intend to become 5 star....so please suggest if we need to change that format.

For the info, we don't have any kind of advertisement on our site/forum & we do have a dedicated server.

Lol...sorry...but that's not the title, if we did that we would have been banned months ago...Its only the format to show the users the download links inside the post.

We have few thousand submissions at katz.

Please tell us if that format fits & can we continue even without that "bold Download rule"

I mean . . i heard somewhere that 4 Buttons and nearly 8 Text links . .in this manner it is allowed ! i have did the same thing and i am now banned to reduce no. of ddl buttons to a maximum of 4 . . whereas i am having just 4 ddl buttons . .others are text links !

I think it would be better to make a screenshot or any valid prrof next time for katz staff before banning any website (just a suggestion) . . . it would be helpful for katz themselves as well as the webmasters so that they will come to know what went wrong ! !
