While Joe is out on a movie date with his girlfriend, Silvia, two-dimensional film villains known as Jadows suddenly capture her. But thanks to the film's protagonist (and Joe's big-screen idol), Captain Blue -- a harried superhero on the brink of retirement -- Joe ends up in Movieland, too. When the captain confers his powers on Joe, he morphs into "Viewtiful Joe" and squares off against the scoundrels of Movieland to rescue Silvia.
